jihad Is Coming To A Nieghborhood Near You

WARNING: This video contains graphic violent images

Fitna (original) - Watch more Funny Videos
I had to debate whether or not I should post this video, but, it is time for Americans to wake up. Apathy will get your children a very grim future.

jihad is coming to your neighborhood

Regardless of your Political Views:
Every American needs to see to see this film, and to support Geert Widers, who is being persecuted for making it, and who must live under 24 hour protection in safe houses, for speaking out against radical Islam's war on the... West. This is disturbing to watch, but vitally important.

The deceiving term is "Radical" as it suggests only a fanatic portion of Islam. The FEW who claim Islam is not violent are liars, to spread propaganda, or apostates, whose opinion is worthless. I will gladly point out the pillars and other parts of the Koran to any of those liars or apostates which desire to argue.

Any muslim that follows the true doctrines of the Koran knows eventually it must be "Death to infidels" before their Imam can return. That is the agenda of jihad. ALL true muslims must support jihad or they are apostates or liars, for the rhetoric to deceive those who are afraid of being labeled bigots or "politically incorrect". It is the same as a person who claims to be Christian but doesnt believe in the Bible or claims to be Christian to get elected. It is fine to lie for jihad movement.

All Koran believing muslims support jihad with prayer or financially. All working muslims and business owners tithe 20% minimum to mosques and organizations which filter the money to jihad movement. YOU ARE LIED TO... if Islam wanted to save its image and prove to the rest of the world all this is not true, and they, for the most part, denounced terrorism, there would be no terrorism.

It is only a handful, mostly college students or grads which have been assigned to spread rhetoric of peace and love and opposition is bigotry. There is over a billion muslims in the world. If the majority were against the jihad movement(which is Koran doctrine), they could certainly overpower or shame those they claim are "radical".

Its not just Mahmud Ahmanuhtjob that wants Jews whiped off the face of the earth. That is more rhetoric. The Koran teaches they are sub-human and will never be converted and should die at "Every opportunity". This is radical! Islam is radical. I have been trying to wake people up for years to the fact that it is an evil, cultist, religion which agenda is to dominate and convert all the globe... Infidels (that's you and I) MUST DIE!!! What part do you not understand, or believe?

As you ignorantly chose to be in denial of the TRUE nature of Islam, even when you have not read their Koran, look at your children. Think about what you will say when attempting to explain why we allowed a radical religion take over our country...IF you survive.

New Warning To Cops and Deputies Regarding "Right Wing" Terrorists

SPLC alarm: 'Militiamen, white supremacists, anti-Semites, nativists, tax protesters coalescing'

A private activist organization apparently is picking up where the federal government left off when the Department of Homeland Security issued its "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment" warning that returning veterans and people in a long list of other categories were potential terrorists.

Only the new warning, delivered recently to police officers, sheriffs and other law enforcement personnel across the country, is lumping those dedicated to the constitutional principles on which the nation was founded together with crazed killers.

The fall 2009 "Intelligence Report" was issued recently by the Southern Poverty Law Center, where officials confirmed to WND it was published specifically for and delivered to law enforcement personnel across the nation. The SPLC did not respond to a WND request for other comment

America at the crossroads: 'Liberty and Tyranny.' Mark Levin's manifesto provides antidote to growing stranglehold of statism. Just $4.95 today!

But the article groups members of various organizations such as Oathkeepers – whose mainly military and law enforcement members pledge to uphold their constitutional duties, including the duty to question and refuse what appear to be illegitimate orders – with a man "said to be interested in joining a militia" who is accused of killing two deputies in Florida.

"The situation has many authorities worried," the report to police officers says. "Militiamen, white supremacists, anti-Semites, nativists, tax protesters and a range of other activists of the radical right are cross-pollinating and may even be coalescing."

Garbage, says a supporter of the individual rights of gun ownership contained in the Second Amendment.

Mike Vanderboegh is with the Sipsey Street Irregulars, who describe themselves as among the 3 percent as in: "During the American revolution, the active forces in the field against the King's tyranny never amounted to more than 3 percent of the colonists."

The SPLC "are conflation experts," he told WND. "They have a pot and they throw everyone in it in an attempt to tar the rest of us with the racists and terrorists they throw in there."

He said the largest number of active members of various "militias" are constitutionalists, libertarians and conservatives who simply fear the government's swift advances toward federal ownership of banks and auto companies, intervention in personal rights such as health care and obstruction of constitutional provisions with gun regulations.

Only the minority are focused on conspiracy theories and the like, he said.

He said, for example, he was at the Oathkeepers April ceremony in Lexington, and the members with no significant exceptions were highly decorated and long-term serving military members and police. The group's principles include statements they will uphold their oath to support the Constitution.

"What I saw there was quintessentially America," he said.

Are you an enemy of the state? Get the bumper sticker that lets everyone know you have no apologies for being right!

The warning from the SPLC echoes the alarmism from the earlier federal report. WND has posted the report online.

It warned of potential terrorism threats from those who:

  • Oppose abortion
  • Are returning veterans
  • Oppose same-sex marriage
  • Oppose restrictions on firearms
  • Oppose lax immigration laws
  • Oppose the policies of President Obama regarding immigration, citizenship, and the expansion of social programs
  • Oppose continuation of free trade agreements
  • Are suspect of foreign regimes
  • Fear Communist regimes
  • Oppose a "one world" government
  • Bemoan the decline of U.S. stature in the world
  • Are upset with loss of U.S. manufacturing jobs to China and India, and more

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano later apologized to veterans for including them in the list but not to other groups of people, not even when WND also reported later that the "extremism" report was confirmed to have been based on Internet "chatter."

Under the headline "Going Feral," the SPLC warning to police quotes personalities such as Fox News host Glenn Beck, U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann and actor Chuck Norris.

"It's like Thomas Jefferson said, a revolution every now and then is a good thing. We are at the point ... of revolution. And by that, what I mean [is] an orderly revolution, where the people of this country wake up and get up and make a decision that this is not going to happen on their watch," the warning quoted Bachmann, R-Minn., saying.

Norris, in a WND column in March, wrote, "How much more will Americans take? When will enough be enough? And, when that time comes, will our leaders finally listen or will history need to record a second American Revolution?"

Check out WND's impressive collection of 13-star Betsy Ross flags, Navy Jack, Gadsden and tea-stained flags!

Beck's "threat" was, "If this country starts to spiral out of control and, you know, and Mexico melts down or whatever, if it really starts to spiral out of control … Americans … just won't stand for it. There will be parts of the country that will rise up."

In a later column, Norris addressed the issue in a discussion of the 9/12 rally in Washington, where hundreds of thousands of people assembled to protest uncontrolled spending by government and its interference in individual lives.

"On Sept. 12, 2002, we sought to protect our nation against terrorists from without. Beginning on Sept. 12, 2009, we are seeking to protect our nation against enemies of our republic from within. Many of us are protesting the present political direction of Washington. Outrageous borrowing, excessive bailouts, massive spending, speedball stimulus plans … swings toward socialism are just a few of things that were protested that day. Of course, economics is far from America's only problem, as large as it appears to loom," Norris wrote.

"I want to emphasize: this revolutionary movement is not solely an independent, Republican or Democrat fight. It represents patriots fed up against modernists who seek to overturn almost every principle and tenet laid down by our country's founders at the inception of our republic. From the East Coast to the 'Left Coast,' America seems to be moving further and further from its founders' vision and government," he said.

A column by gun rights author David Codrea said, "SPLC's Larry Keller asserts they are 'particularly worrisome.' A fair question might be 'why' or 'to whom?' It's not like they're associated with anything other than patriotism, in spite of his attempts to insinuate racist ties."

Codrea said a militia was important enough for the Founding Fathers to declare them "necessary to the security of a free state."

The terror theme also was raised recently by Democrats. WND reported when an "Organizing for America" campaign document outlined a plan to have activists telephone their state's senators Sept. 11 to demand a "public option," which critics say would lead to a government health-care monopoly.

Bobby Eberle, posting on a Republican Party site called The Loft, said Obama "and his team have no limits on what they will do or say in order to inject socialist views into the minds of Americans."

"They also have absolutely no respect or appreciation for the American way and the sacrifices Americans have made in order to stay free and to promote the American way of life across the globe. Just take the latest effort being pitched at BarackObama.com. Rather than remembering the Americans who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, Obama's political team wants you to make phone calls on 9/11 to fight back against 'Right-Wing Domestic Terrorists,'" Eberle wrote.

The OFA plan said, "All 50 states are coordinating in this – as we fight back against our own Right-Wing Domestic Terrorists who are subverting the American Democratic Process, whipped to a frenzy by their Fox Propaganda Network ceaselessly reseizing power for their treacherous leaders."

Shortly after the "extremism" report was released, WND reported, the Department of Defense was describing protesters as "low-level terrorists."

WND later reported when the DoD eventually withdrew a training manual question that linked protesters across the U.S. to terrorism.

The Thomas More Law Center has filed a lawsuit against Napolitano and the DHS on behalf of nationally syndicated conservative radio talk show host Michael Savage, Gregg Cunningham of the pro-life organization Center for Bio-Ethical Reform Inc. and Iraqi War Marine veteran Kevin Murray.

The lawsuit alleges the federal agency violated the First and Fifth Amendment constitutional rights of the three plaintiffs by targeting them for disfavored treatment and chilling their free speech, expressive association and equal protection rights. The lawsuit further claims DHS encouraged law enforcement officers throughout the nation to target and report citizens to federal officials as suspicious rightwing extremists and potential terrorists because of their political beliefs.

On The Job Training For The Anti-American President

Obama's anniversary gift to Russia...
President Obama is making so many foreign-policy blunders that he is starting to make us yearn for the national-security acumen of the Carter administration. His official announcement scrapping the planned missile-defense system in Poland and the Czech Republic was long expected but still landed with a thud. It is hard to remember a strategic choice that is so obviously wrong on so many levels. The Kremlin is delighted. Read More...

The White House picked an auspicious day to wave the white flag on missile defense. The president's national-security team may say they didn't notice that the announcement came on the 70th anniversary of the Soviet invasion of Poland in 1939, but everyone in Eastern Europe did. For an administration whose claims of heightened cultural sensitivity border on sanctimony, the timing was an unforgivable faux pas. The anniversary gift compounds the message that Washington is bent on courting Moscow regardless of the broader implications for global security.

Subverting Honduran democracy...
The shameful siege of Honduras continues. In the past few weeks, the United States has cut more than $30 million in non-humanitarian aid, suspended most visa services and sided with Venezuela, Cuba and other of Latin America's worst dictatorships in undermining democracy. Meanwhile, the people of Honduras are desperately trying to maintain their freedom and prevent the return of a regime that Washington is committed to forcing down their throats.

The United States rushed to the wrong side of this issue when former Honduran President Manuel Zelaya was ousted on June 28, and since then it has reinforced a bad policy. Rather than seek means of mitigating the crisis, the United States clings obdurately to demands that Mr. Zelaya be returned to power. Read more...

Obama sides with Castro, Chavez of Venezuela, and Zelaya on the future of Honduras. Not so much inexperience, as is communist agenda. Right under our noses.

Cut and Run? Obama goes wobbly on Afghanistan...

It astonishes us how quickly Afghanistan is moving from being a "war of necessity" to "too tough to do." President Obama's comments over the weekend gave the clearest signal yet that his administration is seeking an exit strategy from a conflict he described in August as "not only a war worth fighting" but "fundamental to the defense of our people." Commitment to that fundamental defense is eroding.

The president is being foiled by complex terrain, by which we mean the Congress. The Democratic leadership has indicated it would not look favorably on requests for more troops, which most analysts believe are necessary to stabilize the situation. Read more on Afghanistan...

Obama hardly remembers who A.C.O.R.N. is...
In an interview over the weekend the President was asked whether he supports withdrawing funds and an investigation into the criminal organization. He replied he was unaware there was a problem with A.C.O.R.N. nor did he know they were receiving Federal funding. What?!! The sad thing is there is a certain portion of the population which will believe this fantasy.

Obama has the weakest foreign-policy record of any new U.S. president in recent memory. An around-the-world tour of international hot spots shows that for all the president's lofty rhetoric, he can point to precious few accomplishments. Read more...

If our Congress had anymore integrity than the presumed President, it would be working on the same result Honduras had to deal with Zelaya. {2010}

The Angriest President

There's' a place in the world for the angry young man
With his working class ties and his radical plans
He refuses to bend, he refuses to crawl,
And he's always at home with his back to the wall.
And he's proud of his scars and the battles he's lost,
And he struggles and bleeds as he hangs on his cross-
And he likes to be known as the angry young man.'
"Angry Young Man" - Billy Joel

The Angriest President
by Stephen GuyHardin

Like another bad film starring a topless Maggie Gyllenhaal or another misguided pseudo I Heart Huckabees misfire, we have a President who lives in his own ultimate truth of reality, in which he is a star searching for a venue to display the luster of his destiny. It is indeed unfortunate for Barack Obama to live in a reality that denies him the venue of fame that only exists in the mind of the angriest President. Placed upon a global stage that can no longer be manipulated by George Soros and Oprah, Barack Obama must contend with the tedium of liberal Sunday talking head shows and stale David Letterman sycophancy to convey his dated and discredited creed of Marxism and social injustice. Imitating a B-grade trade show convention speaker for the Peoria Chapter of the Black Panthers, Barack ticks off tired racial clique after tired racial clique, as the over ripened congregation of middle aged activists check their Blackberry's and pick at the stale remains of their catered lasagna in anticipation of the post-convention trip to the nearest strip club.

In a sad imitation of Al Pacino in Devil's Advocate, our angriest President smirks and grimaces and berates and lectures to his captive audiences of union thugs and community activists. Beating the dead horse of socialized medicine beyond all recognition of the reality of public opinion, our angriest President refuses to step from the enlightened path of his wage against the machine. Hiding his life of privilege and preference beneath the color of rage and resentment, Barack reels fact after misshapen fact at a public increasingly disengaged from the rhetoric of an angry middle aged man. The compulsion of anger has replaced the debate over policy, with emotion and feelings replacing facts and fairness. The only consistent element in Barack's campaign of public enlightenment is anger and glorified moral outage at the supremacy of corruption and white man's greed disguised under the cloak of the status quo.

When all hope of political or moral victory has been exhausted the angriest President refuses to change course or concede defeat. Only knowing the currents of conflict that belong back in the history of the streets of Hyde Park, Barack only knows the theory of the attack. Unable to acknowledge defeat or consider compromise, the angriest President only knows to walk the path he has learned from the disciples of the Weather Underground and the Nation of Islam. This path is the one where he is always deferred to due to his cultural heritage, his politically correct African name and the carefully manicured socialist caricature that is Barack Obama. Conflicted by the divergent goals of politics and idealism, Barrack is no longer able to resolve the disappointment of reality with the compromise of politics. Anger has replaced the soul of a man who once sought to placate the suffering of his people and lead a nation he despises into a new age of cultural enlightenment and political correctness.

Brainwashed in the classic prose of Che and Mao to be the unthinking and unfeeling soldier of a revolution that never was, Barack sings the song of the pedantic poet who inhabited the unemployment lines in Cambridge and Chicago in the era of post sixties chic radicalism that were discredited when he was still a child playing in the sands of Waikiki. Evolving from Bob Dylan's John Wesley Harding to the casual counter-racism of Kanye West playing for a Katrina opiated media orgy, our angriest President has adopted his classroom learned message of reversing social injustice to his megalomaniacal message of liberal fascism masked as government for the people and by the people.

Living in the alternate reality of the social activist gone Hollywood, where chaos and suffering are gleaned as opportunities to harness the sufferings and dreams of the people he claims to strive for, our angriest President interprets the histories of Malcolm X and Dr. King as unfulfilled shadows of the greatness he feels destined to eclipse. Discarding the history of a nation that has given him the opportunity for greatness, Barack squanders and maligns the greatness of America in a vain and megalomaniacal quest to create the image of a Leader that will eclipse all who have gone before and all who will come after. The realization that this holy quest is fleeting, depending upon the whim of public opinion of the great unwashed masses, only increases the fury and uncivil discourse of our angriest President.

Striking in similarity to the growing smallness of Jimmy Carter during the waning days of his Presidential malaise, Barack is nearing the sweater wearing period of his administration in which he blames his political bankruptcy on the American voter and avoids the image of failure he sees in the mirror. Embarking upon the tread worn path of mediocrity well known to Democrat Presidents of the past, Barack Obama only knows to proclaim his vision upon the sound stages of Hollywood and other safe havens of the Liberal celebrity carousel. As though auditioning for the tenth round of an e-Harmony ad, Barack breaks out his well rehearsed dog and pony show lamenting the horrors of the American cultural genocide against the oppressed communities of Southside Chicago. Deigning to step down from the pinnacle of the Presidency to the gutter of the modern American celebrity, Barack Obama refuses to bend, refuses to crawl, and he's always at home with his back to the wall, and he's proud of his scars and the battles he's lost, and he struggles and bleeds as he hangs on the cross, and he's doomed to be known as the angriest President.

Flight 93 Memorial: Honoring Islam?

Blogburst logo, petition

Tom Burnett Sr. and his wife Beverly did some 9/11 interviews last week, remembering their son Tom Jr., who was murdered by Islamic terrorists aboard Flight 93. Mr. Burnett has been trying for several years to stop the Park Service from planting a giant Islamic-shaped crescent on the Flight 93 crash site. In their interview with WSAU radio in Wisconsin, the Burnetts were joined half-way through the hour by Alec Rawls, who has written a book about the terrorist memorializing Crescent of Embrace design.

Mr. Burnett's words are always heartfelt, yet marked by a constant scrupulousness. Emotion never carries him to utter a word beyond what he actually has grounds to assert. Highly recommended listening, perhaps especially for those who are better at judging people than facts. Let's face it, show some people the Mecca-orientation of the giant crescent, and they just aren't sure what they are looking at. Point out that the central feature of every mosque is a Mecca-direction indicator, and somehow the pieces don't fall together in their brains:

What is that? Just a mysterious diagram to some.

Yet these folks can still be good judges of character. So judge the Burnetts. The WSAU interview begins with host Pat Snyder asking Mr. Burnett if America is doing enough as a nation to remember 9/11. Most of us, on being asked any question, will try to answer it, but Mr. Burnett immediately defers, and in the most polite way:
Well, I'm not a very good judge of that. We are tucked away here in the southeast corner of Minnesota...
But if he isn't interested in passing judgment on how much America should do to remember 9/11, he is very concerned that we don't honor the wrong people, and starts right in on the Flight 93 memorial (which Mr. Snyder puts off to later).

Both the Burnetts have a sophisticated understanding of American liberty. Talking about the generosity of Americans towards each other and the world, Beverly notes the change that has taken place in her lifetime, where assistance used to be all private, but now the government has gotten involved. She passes no explicit judgment on this development, but just notes what should remain constant (at 17:22):
I think about all the programs we have in the government. I come from a different generation, and my mother and father, and Tom's, that we never really looked to the government all the time. We looked to our neighbors and churches and friends for things. But our government should be there to make sure we're SAFE.
Instead, as Tom and Bev both note, our elites don't even want to acknowledge that it was Muslim terrorists who attacked us on 9/11.

It is these same elites who don't want to acknowledge the Islamic symbol-shapes in the Flight 93 memorial. To witness this symbolism would be to tie Islam to 9/11, which to these people is some unconscionable bigotry, regardless of the truth. There is the rub. As Mr. Burnett put it (at 25:16):
All we want--Alec, and the thousands of Americans who back us--we want the truth. What happened? [How did we end up with an Islamist design?] And we want to honor the 40 people. I don't want anything to do with the Islamic fanatics, anything at all.
Mr. and Mrs. Burnett are very thoughtful, careful, rational people. So who is it who is "too far out"? People like the Burnetts, who are skeptical that the architect of a memorial to Flight 93 could plant a giant crescent and star flag on the crash site by mistake? Or is it the people who somehow convince themselves that a crescent and star flag is just fine, so long as we can't prove that it is intentional?

Actually, we CAN prove that the Islamic symbolism is intentional. Architect Paul Murdoch does not want history to be able to deny his achievement, so he included extensive redundant proofs of intent, such as the following. Murdoch says the crescent comes from the terror attacks breaking the circle (leaving only the giant Islamic-shaped crescent still standing, hmmm). Remove the parts of the crescent that stick out past the point where the flight path (coming down from the upper left) symbolically breaks the circle, and what symbolically remains standing is a giant Islamic-shaped crescent pointing EXACTLY at Mecca.

The full Crescent of Embrace points 1.8° north of Mecca ± 0.1°. Remove the parts of the Entry Portal walls that extend past the flight path at the upper crescent tip and the remaining “true” or thematic crescent points exactly at Mecca, ± 0.1°.

All the supposed redesign did was add an extra arc of trees that explicitly represents a broken off part of the circle, leaving Murdoch’s circle-breaking crescent-creating theme completely intact. The unbroken part of the circle, what symbolically remains standing in the wake of 9/11, is still a precisely Mecca-oriented crescent, the centerpiece for the world’s largest mosque.

From The "Nut Farm" To Share His (Wisdom?)

"I believe most of the animosity toward President Obama is based on racism", is Jimmy Carter's response to Joe Wilson's outburst, "You Lie", during Obama's address to Congress the other night.

That's genius. What was it called when everybody called you a liar as you were on the same destructive path as Obama, Mr Carter? I believe it had something to do with... peanuts?

Mr Carter, can you give your genius expertise as to what we should call the vast portion of the population who are black and sick of the lies, as well, and also fight to defend our Constitution? You and the man in the White House, who will not denounce you, are despicable, to put it nicely.

They are saying there is now as many as 45 to over 50 Czars and NOBODY knows for sure, or who they are. If I say this is an outrage and opposes our Constitution is that "Racist"???

The comments made by Obama which led to Joe Wilson's "You Lie" cry were in fact total lies. There is nothing in the Obamacare proposal thus far which eliminates illegal aliens from receiving 'sky is the limit' health care.

Obama will remain silent pertaining to the 'race card' in the same way as the Beer Summit issue. Why? It is blatantly obvious, just as his Socialist agenda, he promotes and encourages the whole 'racial' diversion. He had perfect opportunity to utilize the Crowley Gate incident to make a REAL learning experience from a REAL racial problem, and contempt for authority. Instead he let it simmer, until it exploded from the left all over the Internet and made all new victims stemming from Obama's 'rush to judgement'.

The audacity of all this attacking over half the country with insults and innuendos is arrogant, to say the least. Who do these people think they are coming out with the most contemptuous insults one could dream up, against all those who oppose their agendas. It is as though they either know they are not going to remain in office and think "Oh well", or they don't plan on leaving office at all. In any event, this goes way beyond divisiveness. Talking down to more than half the country cannot be a good thing, no matter how it turns out.

SHAME on all who use the racial issue to divert attention and fire people up against the opposition. SHAME on those of you having the audacity to pit citizens against citizens, for your own selfish plans. Do you not see the numbers grow daily opposing the Socialist agenda? Even from the left? Some D-Representatives are realizing to follow some of these Leftist agendas is political suicide.

Even those who remain silent, should begin looking for a backup carrer. As in the A.C.O.R.N. criminal organization. it should have been unanymous to stop funding. It should also be unquestioned to begin a full scale investigation, pulling out all the stops, like the concern over baseball players taking steroids. A.C.O.R.N. is a threat to our whole way of governing and will be stopped and taken apart. Would it not be better WITH Congressional cooperation, NOW???

As people awake, and the Congress is cleaned up next year, the ones remaining will be disgraced, and even charged criminally. You are spinning your wheels. You should do as did John F Kennedy, the last Democrat which possessed any kind of integrity. He was elected as the FED and the globalists thought he was on board. He developed a conscience, and decided to sign a bill forcing the FED to open their books and regulate their power. Two weeks later he was assassinated.

Mr Obama, you would have the backing of every American citizen if you obtained a conscience, exercised integrity, and turned away from the Socialists you work for, and turn for the people you represent (fraudulently). You may go down as the most popular President in history, rather than the worse.

Any one jumping on your racial bandwagon, Mr Obama, will eventually realize you are not for them, at all, but, just using them to fulfill your assault on our government.

Mr Carter, please, go back to your 'nut farm' and stay out of politics. You did a horrible job the first time. Why would anybody want to know what you think? You can tell Jimmy what you think at carterweb@emory.edu (Attn: President Carter). Be respectful so they don't sick CIA on you, but tell him what you think of his racist comments.

Davy Crockett's "Not Yours to Give" Speech in Congress

"It is a precedent fraught with danger for the country, for when Congress once begins to stretch its power beyond the limits of the Constitution, there is no limit to it and no security for the people... ... the Constitution, to be worth anything, must be held sacred and rigidly observed in all its provisions." ~ Colonel David Crockett member of the U.S. Congress 1827-31 & 1832-35, AKA Davy Crockett

History's immortals sometimes offer a glimpse of their greatness in events other than those that granted them immortality.

Tennessee militia colonel David Crockett, perhaps best known for his role in the 1836 defense of the Alamo, also served three terms in the United States Congress between 1827 and 1835. Nationally known during his lifetime as a political representative of the frontier, Crockett apparently came by that reputation honestly, inasmuch as he was not above listening to his constituents. The following excerpt from an 1884 biography by Edward S. Ellis, "The Life of Colonel David Crockett," reveals how his own rural electorate taught him the importance of adhering to the Constitution and the perils of ignoring its restrictions.

One day in the House of Representatives, a bill was taken up appropriating money for the benefit of a widow of a distinguished naval officer. Several beautiful speeches had been made in its support. The Speaker was just about to put the question when Mr. Crockett arose:

"Mr. Speaker --- I have as much respect for the memory of the deceased, and as much sympathy for the suffering of the living, if suffering there be, as any man in this house, but we must not permit our respect for the dead or our sympathy for a part of the living to lead us into an act of injustice to the balance of the living. I will not go into an argument to prove that Congress has no power to appropriate this money as an act of charity. Every member upon this floor knows it. We have the right, as individuals, to give away as much of our own money as we please in charity; but as members of Congress we have no right so to appropriate a dollar of the public money. Some eloquent appeals have been made to us upon the ground that it is a debt due the deceased. Mr. Speaker, the deceased lived long after the close of the war; he was in office to the day of his death, and I have never heard that the government was in arrears to him.

"Every man in this House knows it is not a debt. We cannot, without the grossest corruption, appropriate this money as the payment of a debt. We have not the semblance of authority to appropriate it as a charity. Mr. Speaker, I have said we have the right to give as much money of our own as we please. I am the poorest man on this floor. I cannot vote for this bill, but I will give one week's pay to the object, and, if every member of Congress will do the same, it will amount to more than the bill asks.

"He took his seat. Nobody replied. The bill was put upon its passage, and, instead of passing unanimously, as was generally supposed, and as, no doubt, it would, but for that speech, it received but few votes, and of course, was lost.

"Later, when asked by a friend why he had opposed the appropriation, Crockett gave this explanation:

"Several years ago I was one evening standing on the steps of the Capitol with some other members of Congress, when our attention was attracted by a great light over in Georgetown. It was evidently a large fire. We jumped into a hack and drove over as fast as we could. In spite of all that could be done, many houses were burned and many families made homeless, and, besides, some of them had lost all but the clothes they had on. The weather was very cold, and when I saw so many women and children suffering, I felt that something ought to be one for them. The next morning a bill was introduced appropriating $20,000 for their relief. We put aside all other business and rushed it through as soon as it could be done.

"The next summer, when it began to be time to think about the election, I concluded I would take a scout around among the boys of my district. I had no opposition there, but, as the election was some time off, I did not know what might turn up. When riding one day in a part of my district in which I was more a stranger than any other, I saw a man in a field plowing and coming toward the road. I gauged my gait so that we should meet as he came to the fence. As he came up, I spoke to the man. He replied politely, but, as I thought, rather coldly.

"I began: 'Well, friend, I am one of those unfortunate beings called candidates, and--'

" 'Yes, I know you; you are Colonel Crockett. I have seen you once before, and voted for you the last time you were elected. I suppose you are out electioneering now, but you had better not waste your time or mine. I shall not vote for you again.'

"This was a sockdolager... I begged him to tell me what was the matter.

" 'Well, Colonel, it is hardly worth-while to waste time or words upon it. I do not see how it can be mended, but you gave a vote last winter which shows that either you have not capacity to understand the Constitution, or that you are wanting in the honesty and firmness to be guided by it. In either case you are not the man to represent me. But I beg your pardon for expressing it in that way. I did not intend to avail myself of the privilege of the constituent to speak plainly to a candidate for the purpose of insulting or wounding you. I intended by it only to say that your understanding of the Constitution is very different from mine; and I will say to you what, but for my rudeness, I should not have said, that I believe you to be honest....But an understanding of the Constitution different from mine I cannot overlook, because the Constitution, to be worth anything, must be held sacred, and rigidly observed in all its provisions. The man who wields power and misinterprets it is the more dangerous the more honest he is.'

"I admit the truth of all you say, but there must be some mistake about it, for I do not remember that I gave any vote last winter upon any Constitutional question.

" 'No, Colonel, there's no mistake. Though I live here in the backwoods and seldom go from home, I take the papers from Washington and read very carefully all the proceedings in Congress. My papers say that last winter you voted for a bill to appropriate $20,000 to some suffers by a fire in Georgetown. Is that true?'

"Well, my friend, I may as well own up. You have got me there. But certainly nobody will complain that a great and rich country like ours should give the insignificant sum of $20,000 to relieve its suffering women and children, particularly with a full and overflowing Treasury, and I am sure, if you had been there, you would have done just as I did.'

" 'It is not the amount, Colonel, that I complain of; it is the principle. In the first place, the government ought to have in the Treasury no more than enough for its legitimate purposes. But that has nothing to do with the question. The power of collecting and disbursing money at pleasure is the most dangerous power that can be intrusted to man, particularly under our system of collecting revenue by tariff, which reaches every man in the country, no matter how poor he may be, and the poorer he is the more he pays in proportion to his means. What is worse, it presses upon him without his knowledge where the weight centers, for there is not a man in the United States who can ever guess how much he pays to the government. So you see, that while you are contributing to relieve one, you are drawing it from thousands who are even worse off than he. If you had the right to give anything, the amount was simply a matter of discretion with you, and you had as much right to give $20,000,000 as $20,000. If you have the right to give to one, you have the right to give to all; and, as the Constitution neither defines charity nor stipulates the amount, you are at liberty to give to any thing and everything which you may believe, or profess to believe, is a charity, and to any amount you may think proper. You will very easily perceive what a wide door this would open for fraud and corruption and favoritism, on the one hand, and for robbing the people on the other. No, Colonel, Congress has no right to give charity. Individual members may give as much of their own money as they please, but they have no right to touch a dollar of the public money for that purpose. If twice as many houses had been burned in this county as in Georgetown, neither you nor any other member of Congress would have thought of appropriating a dollar for our relief. There are about two hundred and forty members of Congress. If they had shown their sympathy for the suffers by contributing each one week's pay, it would have made over $13,000. There are plenty of men in and around Washington who could have given $20,000 without depriving themselves of even a luxury of life. The congressmen chose to keep their own money, which, if reports be true, some of them spend not very creditable; and the people about Washington, no doubt, applauded you for relieving them from the necessity of giving by giving what was not yours to give. The people have delegated to Congress, by the Constitu- tion, the power to do certain things. To do these, it is authorized to collect and pay moneys, and for nothing else. Everything beyond this is usurpation, and a violation of the Constitution. So you see, Colonel, you have violated the Constitution in what I consider a vital point. It is a precedent fraught with danger to the country, for when Congress once begins to stretch its power beyond the limits of the Constitution, there is no limit to it, and no security for the people. I have no doubt you acted honestly, but that does not make it any better, except as far as you are personally concerned, and you see that I cannot vote for you..'

"I tell you I felt streaked. I saw if I should have opposition, and this man should go to talking, he would set others to talking, and in that district I was a gone fawn-skin. I could not answer him, for the fact is, I was so fully convinced that he was right, I did not want to. But I must satisfy him, and I said to him: Well, my friend, you hit the nail upon the head when you said I did not have sense enough to understand the Constitution. I intended to be guided by it, and thought I had studied it fully. I have heard many speeches in Congress about the powers of Congress, but what you have said here at your plow has got more hard, sound sense in it than all the fine speeches I ever heard. If I had ever taken the view of it that you have, I would have put my head into the fire before I would have given that vote; and if I ever vote for another unconstitutional law I wish I may be shot.

"He laughingly replied: 'Yes Colonel, you have sworn to that once before, but I will trust you again upon one condition. You say that you are convinced that your vote was wrong. Your acknowledgment of it will do more good than beating you for it. If, as you go around this district, you will tell people about this vote, and that you are satisfied that it was wrong, I will not only vote for you, but will do what I can to keep down opposition, and perhaps, I may exert a little influence in that way.'

"If I don't [said I] I wish I may be shot; and to convince you that I am earnest in what I say I will come back this way in a week or ten days, and if you will get up a gathering of the people, I will make a speech to them. Get up a barbecue, and I will pay for it.

" 'No, Colonel, we are not rich people in this section, but we have plenty of provisions to contribute to a barbecue, and some to spare for those who have none. The push of crops will be over in a few days, and we can then afford a day for a barbecue. This is Thursday; I will see to getting up on Saturday week.. Come to my house on Friday, and we will go together, and I promise you a very respectable crowd to see and hear you.'

"Well, I will be here. but one thing more before I say good-bye. I must know your name.

" 'My name is Bunce.'

"Not Horatio Bunce?

" 'Yes.'

"Well, Mr. Bunce, I never saw you before though you say you have seen me, but I know you very well. I am glad I have met you, and very proud that I may hope to have you for my friend.

"It was one of the luckiest hits of my life that I met him. He mingled but little with the public, but was widely known for his remarkable intelligence and incorruptible integrity, and for a heart brimful and running over with kindness and benevolence, which showed themselves not only in words but in acts. He was the oracle of the whole country around him, and his fame had extended far beyond the circle of his immediate acquaintance. Though I had never met him before, I had heard much of him, and but for this meeting it is very likely I should have had opposition, and had been beaten. One thing is very certain, no man could now stand up in that district under such a vote.

"At the appointed time I was at his house, having told our conversation to every crowd I had met, and to every man I stayed all night with, and I found that it gave the people an interest and a confidence in me stronger than I had ever seen manifested before. Though I was considerably fatigued when I reached his house, and, under ordinary circumstances, should have gone early to bed, I kept up until midnight, talking about the principles and affairs of government, and got more real, true knowledge of them than I had got all my life before. I have known and seen much of him since, for I respect him --- no, that is not the word --- I reverence and love him more than any living man, and I go to see him two or three times a year; and I will tell you sir, if everyone who professes to be a Christian, lived and acted and enjoyed it as he does, the religion of Christ would take the world by storm.

"But to return to my story. The next morning we went to the barbecue, and, to my surprise, found about a thousand men there. I met a good many whom I had not known before, and they and my friend introduced me around until I had got pretty well acquainted --- at least, they all knew me. In due time notice was given that I would speak to them. They gathered up around a stand that had been erected. I opened my speech by saying:

"Fellow-citizens --- I present myself before you today feeling like a new man. My eyes have lately been opened to truths which ignorance or prejudice, or both, had heretofore hidden from my view. I feel that I can today offer you the ability to render you more valuable service than I have ever been able to render before. I am here today more for the purpose of acknowledging my error than to seek your votes. That I should make this acknowledgment is due to myself as well as to you. Whether you will vote for me is a matter for your consideration only.

"I went on to tell them about the fire and my vote for the appropriation and then told them why I was satisfied it was wrong. I closed by saying:

"And now, fellow-citizens, it remains only for me to tell you that the most of the speech you have listened to with so much interest was simply a repetition of the arguments by which your neighbor, Mr. Bunce, convinced me of my error.

"It is the best speech I ever made in my life, but he is entitled to the credit for it. And now I hope he is satisfied with his convert and that he will get up here and tell you so.

"He came upon the stand and said: " 'Fellow-citizens --- It affords me great pleasure to comply with the request of Colonel Crockett. I have always considered him a thoroughly honest man, and I am satisfied that he will faithfully perform all that he has promised you today.'

"He went down, and there went up from that crowd such a shout for Davy Crockett as his name never called forth before.

"I am not much given to tears, but I was taken with a choking then and felt some big drops rolling down my cheeks. And I tell you now that the remembrance of those few words spoken by such a man, and the honest, hearty shout they produced, is worth more to me than all the reputation I have ever made, or shall ever make, as a member of Congress.

"Now, sir," concluded Crockett, "you know why I made that speech yesterday. There is one thing now to which I wish to call to your attention. You remember that I proposed to give a week's pay. There are in that House many very wealthy men --- men who think nothing of spending a week's pay, or a dozen of them, for a dinner or a wine party when they have something to accomplish by it. Some of those same men made beautiful speeches upon the great debt of gratitude which the country owed the deceased --- a debt which could not be paid by money --- and the insignificance and worthlessness of money, particularly so insignificance a sum as $10,000, when weighed against the honor of the nation. Yet not one of them responded to my proposition. Money with them is nothing but trash when it is come out of the people. But it is the one great thing for which most of them are striving, and many of them sacrifice honor, integrity, and justice to obtain it."

David Crockett was born August 17, 1786 at Limestone (Greene County), Tennessee. He died March 06, 1836 as one of the brave Southerners defending the Alamo.

Crockett had settled in Franklin County, Tennessee in 1811. He served in the Creek War under Andrew Jackson. In 1821 and 1823 he was elected to the Tennessee legislature. In 1826 and 1828 he was elected to Congress. He was defeated in 1830 for his outspoken opposition to President Jackson's Indian Bill - but was elected again in 1832.

In Washington, although his eccentricities of dress and manner excited comment, he was always popular on account of his shrewd common sense and homely wit; although generally favoring Jackson's policy, he was entirely independent and refused to vote to please any party leader.

At the end of the congressional term, he joined the Texans in the war against Mexico, and in 1836 was one of the roughly 180 men who died defending the Alamo. Tradition and diaries of Mexican Officers has it that Crockett was one of only six survivors after the Mexicans took the fort, and that he and the others were taken out and executed by firing squad.

Their Time Has Come?

click on poster to visit site
At least 50,000 are expected to be on Capitol Hill at the site where Presidents are inaugurated. It was Obama's inauguration which inspired this event. It is unknown at this time whether Mr Obama will be honoring the attendees with his presence.
*
The event organizers say they want the Islamic prayer to "Echo" off the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument, and "other great edifices surrounding the Capitol." They state the peace, love and beauty of Islam will shine through America's Capitol.
*
At the bottom of each page of the website are the words OUR TIME HAS COME
*
The rhetoric of peace, love and beauty associated with Islam has always been confusing, as their Koran teaches all infidels must be eliminated before their mufti messiah can return. It is also very explicit that all Jews are sub-human and should not walk the earth. The prophet Muhammad's words are very respected and in fact is practiced to bestow peace upon him. This is also confusing, as he is dead.
*
The prophet Muhammad was a drunken, illiterate, camel train hand in the desert, where he met a rich widow. They were married, and since she had money there was no need for Muhammad to work anymore. Muhammad took up his favorite hobby drinking. One day, in a drunken stupor, Muhammad began slurring unintelligible words, as do most drunks.
*
His buddies were convinced he was speaking in 'spiritual tongues' and called for clerics. Loving the attention, Muhammad made it a regular practice to get liquored up and spew religious genius. The clerics translated his gibberish into prophecy which became the hatred based movement to take over the globe. Prior to this, Islam had nothing to compose a Koran except it originated from the illegitimate son of Abraham, Ishmael.
*
We are told over and over that it is just a radical few who wish us dead. This is the dangerous rhetoric that has allowed so much leverage in our government. It is through the ignorance of many that the greed of a few have been able to be so successful. Many businesses and politicians have made fortunes, at the cost of American lives.
*
If you are Muslim, and you believe the Koran, all humans on the planet must be converted or die before the messiah can return. This is fact, but, people believe the rhetoric of peace and love. Islam and shariah law has already begun dominating Europe. Riots broke out in London over the weekend as anti- shariah protesters were attacked by Muslims with rocks and sticks, spreading more of that peace and love.
*
The so-called anti terrorist Muslims only surfaced after a handful of Republicans voiced their concern. If the attackers were a radical few, then where were all the Muslims to cry out against the evil and denounce their actions? To preserve their accomplishments and continue to propagandize America, a handful of Muslim clerics have been assigned to spread the rhetoric.
*
Islam preaches it is okay to lie if it promotes Islam. It is okay to hurt, especially an infidel, if it prospers you, but, always call a fellow Muslim your brother. Jihad is not a radical bunch. It is the equivalent to an evangelist or Christian soldier. If you are Muslim it is expected of you to support the jihad movement in anyway possible. If you are not actually killing, or planning, you are supporting with a financial tithe, or at least prayer for the success. i find it fascinating how people argue the points that are in the Koran, when they have not read it...like the health care bill everybody argues about. Obama just says it's not there...it's not there. NOT!
*
Every single person in the Middle East is totally aware that Obama is Muslim. It is very clear he promotes and supports the jihad movement. There is absolutely no sign that Obama is Christian, as he claimed during his campaign. The only day Obama was not in the public eye since his inauguration was National Prayer Day. For the first time since its invocation, an American President ignored it completely.
*
Through "Political Correctness" even Christians have accepted the rhetoric and lies used to promote Islam. Comments are left all the time disputing the facts and 'killing the messenger'.
Go to the site islamoncapitolhill.com, look at the bottom of each page. What do you think that means? I'll tell you what it does NOT mean. It does not mean spread the holy word.

The Wrong Direction: Correcting 9/11

Click on image for live web cam

Eight years after the Sept. 11 tragedy, construction at the Ground Zero site is finally rising above street level. In August, 24 70-ton steel columns began to be erected as part of the base for the largest of the site's buildings. One World Trade Center, formerly known as the Freedom Tower, is now slated to be completed in 2013 at a budget of over $3 billion. When completed it will be the tallest building in America at 1776 feet. Read complete story...

Eight years ago today, I watched in disbelief as the second plane approached the second tower, revealing it was not some freak accident, but, certainly a malicious attack on our country. The same country which rushed to the aid of any and every other country on the planet in time of need. The fact that we have always been known as the humanitarian country of countries was foremost in our thinking, far surpassing any political or sick religious agenda.

As the reports started rolling in of other attacks, sadness turned to anger. I wanted to know how this could happen. This was not a battle field, these were neighbors. The Islamic war against our nation and its people was made real. The next few years I would study and investigate, and come to know the real Islamic fascism which is always going to be a threat to Israel and the United States--- NO MATTER WHAT CONCESSIONS ARE MADE BY IGNORANT OR SYMPATHETIC POLITICIANS.

The stupid rhetoric you have been fed that Islam is a peace loving religion, and the terrorists are just a radical few, is a lie. Just as the lies continue to flow regarding what is, or isn't in the proposed legislation of health care and energy bills, our own politicians intentionally deceive us as to the true nature of Islam. I have read the language in the bills and Obama is a bold faced liar. I have read the koran and muslims are liars.

That clerk where you get your gas, the one who speaks friendly to you and you try so hard not to offend, as it would be 'politically incorrect', tithes 20% of his paycheck, or profits, to the jihad. The nice muslim girl you bought your purse from, that seems incapable of hurting a fly, prays for the success of the jihad.

You see, the biggest fraud and myth in history, is that jihad is a radical form of Islam. Rather, jihad is the political and militia arm of the Islamic movement. If you are muslim and you do not actually fight in jihad, you must support financially or in prayer. The jihad movement is simple. All occupants of the planet must commit to Islam or be eliminated. No infidels can be present when the Islamic (messiah) mufti returns. Convert or die! That is the teaching.

This is why Iran's Ayatollah and Mahmud Ahmanuhtjob are so dangerous. They believe they can hurry the return of their (messiah) by implementing a third world war, thus eliminating a good portion of the infidels. Many Americans do not wish to believe this is true. Okay, don't believe it, but, that doesn't make it any less true. The portion of our population (or swine) which is aware of the intent of jihad and plays their game either stands to gain in the political realm, or make huge profits, at the cost of American and Israeli lives.

Obama allocated $17 million to Hamas for "Training" purposes

Watch this video of a room full of ordinary muslims, NOT radicals, cheering for the terrorists. The terrorists are regarded as the most holy of muslims, and heroes.

Even Christians have fallen for the ridiculous rhetoric of Islam is just another religion and we should embrace muslims as our brothers. Pastor Rick Warren, author of The Purpose Driven Life, attended a recent Islamic Convention. Warren called for Christians to "hold hands" with the muslims in achieving global unity. Misguided people who call themselves Christians, such as Obama and Warren, need to take a good hard look at what being a Christian means. I pray for their souls, that they would be turned around. I pray for the United States of America, land that I love.

And look for Rick Warren's new book "Purpose Driven jihad"

Trial Set for Obama's birth certificate dispute!

click to enlargeUPDATE: 9/18/09, Discovery was granted-- Obama has 30 days to produce all records requested by Orly Taitz
UPDATE: 10/5/09, Motion To Dismiss--DENIED

Arguments planned Jan. 11 for challenge to eligibility
A California judge today tentatively scheduled a trial for Jan. 26, 2010, for a case that challenges Barack Obama's eligibility to be president based on questions over his qualifications under the requirements of the U.S. Constitution.

If the case actually goes to arguments before U.S. District Judge David Carter, it will be the first time the merits of the dispute have been argued in open court, according to one of the attorneys working on the issue.

In a highly anticipated hearing today before Carter, several motions were heard, including a resolution to long-standing questions about whether attorney Orly Taitz properly served notice on the defendants, which she had.

In a second ruling, Carter ordered that attorney Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation can be added to the case to represent defendants Wiley Drake and Markham Robinson, who had been removed by an earlier court order. Drake, the vice presidential candidate for the American Independent Party, and Robinson, the party's chairman, were restored as plaintiffs.

But the judge did not immediately rule on Taitz' motion to be granted discovery – that is the right to see the president's still-concealed records. Nor did Carter rule immediately on a motion to dismiss the case, submitted by the U.S. government, following discussion over Taitz' challenge to the work of a magistrate in the case.

Carter ordered a hearing Oct. 5 on the motion to dismiss and ordered arguments submitted on the issue of discovery.

If the case survives that challenge, a pretrial hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 11 and the trial for two weeks later.

Ethics Or Intimidation: 'Birther' Judge Carter Stands To Be Recused

Children As Pawns: Nothing New

To you Hollywood freaks that think we should pledge allegiance to Obama... he is supposed to pledge allegiance to our Constitution and be OUR servant -- NOT the other way around. Stick to entertaining like the clowns you emulate...

To our Public Schools: You need to go back to teaching "truth", and of our founding fathers, rather than promoting a usurper. Point out to our precious next generation of voters the ills of this administration and how NOT to be a President.

It's not the speech of encouragement to the kids. It is the unprecedented curriculum associated with the speech. They dropped the essay, finally, that would have children pledging their loyalty and devotion to Obama & the Socialist regime, only after so much controversy arose. Even Conservatives were asking what is wrong with the President giving a "pep" talk to the kids to stay in school... nothing is wrong with that. That is what it evolved into after the concerns surmounted.

How much should Palestinian children know about Nazi war crimes? According to Hamas, only enough to know the Holocaust is a "lie." Read More...

Barrack Hussein Obama gave $17 million to Hamas for training purposes. Hamas is nothing more than a terrorist organization which refuses to acknowledge the existence of the Jews, but, Obama wants to give them an existence in the United Nations. He has set up through Congress to allocate another $10 million to Hamas in a few months. This is what your tax dollars are going to...

So you think we should trust Obama talking to our children without censorship and approval? like any wanna-be dictators, Barrack and Michelle Obama have a certain degree of mental illness. They truly believe in their hearts they are doing the right thing.

HEY, OBAMA! LEAVE THEM KIDS ALONE

Whither to Afghanistan?

“There’s nothing to win there. . . . What do you get for it? What’s the return?"

George Will’s recent column, “In Afghanistan, Knowing When to Stop” (September 1, 2009) has drawn quite a lot of heat from fellow conservatives, such as Bill Kristol, who wrote: “Will is urging retreat, and accepting defeat.” With very little NATO support our troops slog on there, in a rather hopeless attempt at nation-building, according to Will: “The Brookings Institution ranks Somalia as the only nation with a weaker state.” After all, we won the war there, what else could we be doing? Will wonders: “Creation of an effective central government? Afghanistan has never had one.” As David Harsanyi has said, in support of Will, “Or is victory achieved when we finally usher this primitive tribal culture, with its violent warlords and religious extremism, from the eighth century all the way to modernity? If so, we’re on course for a centuries-long enterprise of nation building and baby-sitting, not a war. The war was won in 2002.” Haven’t we learned anything from the failed Soviet attempt to control this tribal culture on some of the most inhospitable terrain imaginable? Will wasn’t the first conservative to raise the issue of whether or not we had overstayed our rationale for being in Afghanistan. Diana West wrote in, “Let Afghanistan Go,” on April 23, 2009:

This is not to suggest that there is no war or enemies to fight, . . . there most certainly are. But sinking all possible men, materiel and bureaucracy into Afghanistan, as the Obama people and most conservatives favor, to try to bring a corrupt Islamic culture into working modernity while simultaneously fighting Taliban and wading deep into treacherous Pakistani wars is no way to victory — at least not to U.S. victory. On the contrary, it is the best way to bleed and further degrade U.S. military capabilities. Indeed, if I were a jihad chieftain, I couldn’t imagine a better strategy than to entrap tens of thousands of America’s very best young men in an open-ended war of mortal hide-and-seek in the North West Frontier.

West, by the way is an outspoken critic about the dangers of Islamic jihadism, so she’s definitely not a pacifist or defeatist. West interview retired Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely who said: “There’s nothing to win there. . . . What do you get for it? What’s the return? Well, the return’s all negative for the United States.” Vallely went on to recommend a strategy of the using...

“The maximum use of unconventional forces,” such as Navy SEALS and other special forces, who can be deployed as needed from what are known in military parlance as “lily pads” — outposts or jumping-off points in friendly countries (Israel, Northern Kurdistan, India, Philippines, Italy, Djibouti … ) and from U.S. aircraft carrier strike groups.’ Such strike groups generally include eight to 10 vessels “with more fire power,” the general noted, “than most nations.” These lily pads become “bases we can launch from any time we want to,” eliminating the need for massive land bases such as Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, by now a small city of 20,000 American personnel who continuously need to be supplied and secured at enormous expense.

“There’s no permanent force,” the general said. “That’s the beauty of it.” We watch, we wait and when U.S. interests are threatened, “we basically use our strike forces to take them out, target by target.” This would work whether the threat came from Al Qaeda, Pakistani nukes or anything else.

He continued: “This idea that we’re going to go in and bring democracy to these tribal cultures isn’t going to work. If we have a problem with terrorist countries, like Iran, it’s a lot cheaper to go in and hit them and get back out.”

In other words, don’t give up the battle; just give up the nation-building. “It’s up to somebody else to build nations,” the general said. “Not us.”

While, like most Americans, I was in favor of invading Afghanistan after 9/11, it might be time to reassess our strategy there, and in the rest of the Middle East. American capabilities have been badly wounded by the financial collapse and we don’t seem to be learning from history: Most great empires (including reluctant empires like the USA) collapse after overextending themselves militarily, like Rome and Great Britain, and by living off past productivity and going into debt. While I thought the Iraq War was a strategic mistake, things change. Iraq seems like a more feasible location for any hubris of nation-building. Maybe
