Obama Acting "Stupidly"

To all that labeled presumed President Barack Hussein Obama, aka Barry Soetoro, a racist and a radical communist, he certainly has done nothing to discredit their account.

Mr Obama said Thursday he was surprised by all the hubbub over his comments that a white police officer had acted "stupidly" in arresting a prominent black scholar for disorderly conduct. The president didn't take back his words, but he allowed that he understood the sergeant who made the arrest is an "outstanding police officer."

"I have to say I am surprised by the controversy surrounding my statement," Obama said in an interview with ABC News, "because I think it was a pretty straightforward comment that you probably don't need to handcuff a guy, a middle-aged man who uses a cane, who's in his own home."

The gentleman arrested, Obama refers to, was Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., of Cambridge, Mass.; the charge was disorderly conduct, or more commonly known as disturbing the peace. Gates was not "in" his home as Obama states, but, outside his home after advancing the Police Officer in a belligerent manner. View Arrest Report (PDF)

It is not a "Silly" practice to handcuff a middle-aged man being arrested. It is policy in every major jurisdiction in America to handcuff all actors for the protection of all, no matter what the offense. The officer did not know who he was dealing with when he was called to the residence for a burglary in progress. A neighbor observed "two men" breaking into the home. When Police arrived Gates was already inside after forced entry was made as he did not have his keys.

Obama admitted at a Wednesday night press conference that he didn't know all the facts. But he said, "the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home." How can one make such an assertion without all the facts, and by a Harvard law student, and presumed President.

Sgt. James Crowley (arresting officer) told WEEI sports radio network that it was "disappointing that (Obama) waded into what should be a local issue that plays out here."

A police report of the incident written by Officer Carlos Figueroa, who responded to the call with Crowley, says Crowley was already in the house when he walked in. The report says Crowley had asked Gates for some identification and Gates shouted that he would not give any information and called the sergeant a racist. Gates then yelled, "This is what happens to black men in America." When Crowley tried to calm him down, Gates shouted, "You don't know who you're messing with."

The report continues to say that the shouting went on after Gates and the officers walked out onto the front porch. When Gates allegedly wouldn't cooperate or calm down, after repeated warnings Crowley arrested him with many witnesses present. Today it has come out there is an audio tape of the incident.

It is the Gates, Gerafalos, and now our presumed President which keep the racial divide alive and well. A storm has brewed over not so much the incident, but, Obama's judgement call from ignorance. He clearly displayed his common "street" disdain for Police doing their job. The common replies from the left is Gates was within his rights.

I was in court for an arrest I made several years ago of a crack (rock cocaine) dealer. When it came time for the defendant to give his accounting of the incident, he stated to the Judge he was minding his own business selling a few "rocks" and this "big, bad officer comes along and jacks me up for no reason". The Judge laughed out loud as did everyone in the courtroom, except the defendant.

What most people do not understand when judging those in law enforcement, is the mentality of the perpetrator in most cases has always been that the officer is wrong, no matter what. I couldn't begin to even make a rough estimate of how many times I was told the "only reason" I was "messing" with them was because they are "black" regardless of the gun in their pants or the stolen stereo in their backpack.

I have even been called a "nigger" countless times. I had to listen to black people call other black people that every time they spoke a sentence. Once , I asked a man why is it appropriate for him to use that word so freely when it is supposed to be so offensive? His reply was that it's okay for a "brother" to say it to another brother. That is racial in and of itself. If the "F" word is offensive, it remains offensive, no matter whose mouth it comes from.

When Jeanine Gerafalo appeared on a national news broadcast, MSNBC, and called tea party protesters "Racists, pure and simple" she was cheered on by the host of the show. It has always been a frustration among those who must deal with this kind of mentality, such as law enforcement, but, now the leader of our country holds the same mentality. Without even acquiring any facts whatsoever, the President boldly weighs in o a matter with discrimination and extreme prejudice.
